Please keep up the hard work. We are very concerned the Board is heading toward additional decisions for more spending that will result in another tax hike. Of course, we are strongly opposed and feel the Board and County should run their business the way we homeowner/family people do -- by finding ways to better manage what we have now even though times are hard and unstable.

God bless you!

You are so nice to so many people in the county! Even if they are not in your district with the flood map issue. - always hear about how great you are and how caring you are! Just wanted to let you know that it will take a big stick of dynamite to get you out of office because there are too many people that are on your side! You are the best!!!!

"D I, I started my routine morning at work, coming in and listening to Paul Gallo! Then I realized you were on there and you were super terrific. I listened to it, inside so proud of you and all your work for the county of Madison, Greenwood, Sidon and so on. You are incredible and I just admire you so much for the things you have done in your life. Sidon sure put out some of the best people on earth."

I really enjoy keeping up with your work and interests via this source. Your constituents are truly blessed to have a man with your substance and convictions working on their behalf. Need more like you in public office.

I just wanted to thank you for these newsletters. I send them to my mom who will be moving here hopefully in the next year from the MS Gulf Coast. She has lots of questions about the property tax, etc... These give her a lot of answers.

DI,
I salute you for your attempts at keeping Madison County taxpayers informed.

D.I. Smith is the most efficient Supervisor Madison county has ever had and boy have we had and have now some losers. He needs to teach the rest of these do nothings how to be a representative of the public

Mark said...

This is absolutely outstanding and I applaud your efforts. I hope everybody in government copies what you are doing here – it is the right thing to do.

I applaud your efforts to create meaningful transparency – this is one of the best emails I have ever seen from a government official. Thank you for sending and keep up the good work.

You are about the most efficient elected official I've ever run across.

You ever consider running for President?

Thanks for your help...!!!

D.I.,
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you trying to be transparent with our County government and put it out in front of the People. That's a real change from the past. Thanks again.

Thanks for serving and all you do for us.

Mr. Smith, thanks so much for the eNews Updates. These are the things that good Stewards of the Public do. You should position yourself and run for mayor of Madison!!!

Jay said...

I agree with you, D.I. Excellent observation! Madison County needs more rational, forward thinking leaders, such as yourself. Keep up the good work

Wow what an excellent job you are doing representing Madison County.

Hi Mr. Smith,
I just spoke to you on the phone. Just wanted to email you and thank you for taking my call and sharing information. Your service is greatly appreciated.

Mr. Crosby is my supervisor; However, I can always count on you answering the phone! It’s nice being able to get in touch with someone so easily.

Thanks,

Billy

Please review this attached letter, yet another developer trying to reduce square footage minimums, citing the reason as being the “poor old developer just can’t make enough money with those big ole requirements that we agreed to a while back.” As usual, the board is probably not going to vote in our favor so we need to try our best to turn out at this meeting and make things uncomfortable. Also, D. I. Smith isn’t even the board member over our neighborhood, but he’s the only one engaged in any kind of communication letting us know what the hell is going on, so we should be thankful for his efforts.

I knew D.I. when I was an ROTC cadet at USM and he was an upperclassman. What he is now, he has always been - honest, self disciplined, hard working, and caring.

I don't live in Madison County but wish that we had leaders like him in my county.

DI, Thank you for all of the time you put into keeping the residents of Madison informed. You truly are serving the People of our community, and even though I don’t know how I got on your email list, I look forward to all of your emails and find them very informative.

D. I.,

I know that yours is sometimes a thankless job. I deeply appreciate all that you have done to make the voters of this county aware of what is happening and what is needed. I especially appreciate that you are doing this even for those who will probably not vote for you—perhaps you will even change their minds. Anyway, thank you for being a real American and a true servant of the people. I especially thank you for taking time in your busy schedule to help me with my questions.

Sincerely,

Bobby

A good and honorable man with the Nerves of a combat chopper pilot, toughness of a Ranger and an MBA thrown in for good measure. I think I'll vote for DI.

Bill P. said...

If all of the other supervisors had the devotion and dedication to improve the entire county that DI has, Madison county would be so much better off. Even though I was moved out of your district, I will still support you all that I can, and thanks again for all of the hard work you do for us.

Steve G. said...

I wish that I could vote for you. However everywhere I go Im telling them about you.

Madison needs you to survive this redistricting crisis. We will overcome. People have got to get involved in their county gov't and expose these thugs.

Bobby H. said...

Few people impress me with their dedication and service as you do. Thank you so very much for making it easy to stay up with the things that are important. I know God is using you in His own wonderful ways. May God bless you—real good!

Joyfully Serving Christ,

Bobby

I KNOW and RECOMMEND D.I. Smith. D.I. is strictly, strongly military oriented (retired Col. U.S. Army – over 30 years of service; final assignment was Inspector General, MS National Guard (maybe Bro. Ed knows him? From Nat Guard plus he grew up in Sidon – close to Greenwood) D.I. is also a member of Highland Colony BC, and is very involved in church; has a strong faith. He is not afraid to stand up for his principles, and his politics are Right vs Wrong ---the good old American way – not “Well, my Daddy the mayor says…” or “let me check with what Queen Mary would think”…. Also, he does hold a B.A. in business from USM, and an MBA from Troy State….has a good head on his shoulders. AND…IMPORTANTLY….He is married to a wonderful lady –and you know what they say….behind every ‘good’ man, there is a ‘great’ woman!

In fact, election results for Madison County Supervisor election last fall were barely counted when I sent him a message that maybe the reason he did not win was that God had another purpose for him – to be MY alderman in Ridgeland!
